Coast, two thriving textile arts groups come together for an exciting collaborative project. Being based on the South Coast we choose to explore the concept of 'Coast' in this exhibition. Each piece of work is designed as a hanging so that you can move through and around them. Touching is a powerful way to connect with textiles, so we invite you to handle the hangings. Also, with this exhibition are a row of beach huts which form part of a larger exhibition dedicated to the memory of art tutor Christine field.
Threads was established 2005 and is an exciting collaboration of textile artists from across Sussex, working together to share their passion for exploring and experimenting with all things textile. This amazing adventure is producing stimulating and innovative new work, combining stitch & felt, machine embroidery, paint & print, to name just a few techniques. The group regularly exhibits and hosts craft fairs and artists' open houses, displaying and selling quality fine art and craft textiles.
Angelico is a group of women textile artists from Brighton and Worthing area, who met on experimental textile courses taught by Kim Thittichai. The members were part of a larger group which created the 'Necrotex' exhibition in 2005. Angelico has continued to creat exhibitions on an annual basis, as well as participating in Open Houses in Brighton and Worthing, and meeting regularly to share ideas and tecniques Many members of Angelico are also involved in a community arts project called Moving Stitchers, sharing skills and projects for groups with different abilities
